Chapter 14-
I think that Dill ran away to Maycomb, because it was the only place he felt at home. His mother never spent a lot of time with him, which is obviuos after he tells Scout why he really ran away, and it was where his friends were. It seems that when Dill comes to Maycomb he feels stable, and has people who he knows care about him. He probably feels ignored, because if the gossip is true, then he is just shipped around every year, and Maycob is the only place he knows that he is loved.

Chapter 13 Response:
The similie on pages 131 and 132 is "Aunt Alexandra fitted into the world of Maycomb like a hand into a glove,..." This means thats Aunt Alexandra was accepted by the community and felt at home. It also means she and the residents of Maycomb got a long and had common interests, and it was like she had always been there. She fit into the town perfectly, just as (as Harper Lee said) a hand fits in a glove.

Kara and Cailin- great responses! Kara, I do agree that Dill feels at home in Maycomb and Jem and Scout are like family to him. Cailin- good job on finding the simile and awesome explanation. Aunt Alexandra fits into Maycomb perfectly and I do believe that is what Harper Lee was trying to get across to the reader. Keep up the good work everyone! :o)

Ch 12-
I think the people at First Purchase think Attcus is a good man. They think this because he is defending Tom Robinson, a man who goes to Calpurnia's church. They welcome Scout and Jem, and treat them well, because they are the children of Atticus Finch. I think that they think vey highly of Atticus.
