Chapter 7 response
I think the question of was it right for them to take the items in the tree is hard to answer because depending on who you ask you may get a different answer but i think that they way they handled the stuff in the tree by waiting a couple of days and seeing if the items were still there was a good idea. this way they could resonable think that someone had left it there for someone to find not for them to get back. if i found something in what looked like a hiding spot i think i would do what jem and scout did. i would wait maybe a couple days or a week adn go back and see if it was still there, depending on the value of the item, if it was still there after a week i might take it and ask around to see if anyone claimed it. if it was a very valuable item i thought someone might miss i would persist in trying to find the owner but if it was something cheap that i know is replacable after a few weeks i might claim it

Chapter 7 Response:
I think that it wasn't a smart idea for Scout and Jem to take the items from the tree, considering that much of them seemed to be of sentimental and monetary value (watch and indian heads. Whoever was putting the items in, didn't care though, because he kept on putting in items, even after many were taken by Scout and Jem, but the principle of not taking things that don't belong to you should be applied though. Unfortunately I would probably have done the same thing, until the dolls and watch, because after that it would feel sketchy and somewhat like stealing.

Response to chapter 9
Scout has a very good relationship with Uncle Jack. She always looks forward to seeing him and can't stay mad at him. That is probably because he is a great guy and she doesn't get to see him a lot. I have an uncle with a relationship like that too. He's really fun and we like the same stuff and I really never get to see him. It's a lot like Scout and Uncle Jack!

Laura W. and Kara K.,

We are all human and sometimes do not make the right decisions. Although it is wrong to take things that don't belong to you, it is very tempting to take things. To tell the truth I would also wait a few days and then take the items. Finding the owner of the items would definitely be the route to go. I also think it was a trick to be played on Scout and Jem to tempt them to take the items.

Adam P.,

You bring up a good point about Scout and Uncle Jack having a close relationship because they never see each other. That's great that you can relate to Scout that way. I'm glad to hear that you have a good relationship with your uncle. There are many ways to keep in touch with people these days.
